The Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships is committed to offering students advising and programming throughout the academic year. We will continue to offer virtual drop-in hours during the spring semester, and we will also be holding virtual info sessions and programming. We encourage you to check our website throughout January and the spring term for more information and a full slate of events!
General guidelines/policies for URAF’s services, programs, and funding:
- All enrolled students may seek advising about opportunities administered by URAF and may attend workshops, seminars, events, and other programs hosted by URAF.
- Students on leave of absence are not eligible to receive funding during their leave period.
- Students on leave of absence intending to apply for funding in a period subsequent to their leave period (e.g., applying for summer programs and funding after a spring term leave) must petition the Administrative Board via their resident dean for approval to submit applications. These petitions must be approved prior to preparing an application for submission.
- Individuals who have graduated from Harvard College are eligible for URAF seminars, programs, and advising to apply to fellowships for which URAF administers endorsement (e.g., Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships), until which time their eligibility expires.
General guidelines for students on leave:
First-year students (who defer enrollment from fall enrollment to spring enrollment)
Prospective students who would have enrolled in the fall term but defer to the spring term may seek guidance and attend URAF workshops for programs and funding with spring deadlines.
First-year students (who defer to a subsequent fall term)
Prospective students who defer for a full academic year (or longer) may seek general information via the undergradresearch@fas.harvard.edu or fellowships@fas.harvard.edu email inboxes. They are not eligible for URAF services, programs, or funding until the time at which they are officially enrolled.
Continuing students on leave of absence
In general, continuing students on leave of absence are eligible to receive information about or guidance to apply for programs but may not receive funding during their leave period (as stated above).
