Undergraduate Research

Promoting and supporting research opportunities for Harvard undergraduates

The Office for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships (URAF) helps Harvard College students navigate the broad array of institutional, domestic, and international research opportunities that are available to them. The office further aims to develop connections among stakeholders in the academic research landscape (schools, academic departments and affiliated research enterprises, the housing communities, and student organizations).

This website is a portal entry to the world of research for Harvard College students. You can use the menu on the left to navigate to information that is relevant to you:

  • Introduction to undergraduate research, information about relevant policies (especially related to responsible conduct in research, and academic credit for research), and URAF’s calendar of programs.
  • Tips for finding research opportunities, exploring research funding options, pointers for ensuring strong applications, and links to other online resources.
  • Information about the ten URAF-administered research programs (BLISS, Harvard-Amgen, HCRP, Herchel Smith, Mellon-Mays, PEM, PRIMO, PRISE, SHARP, SURGH).

Apart from the wealth of information on this website, you can also interact with URAF via email (undergradresearch@fas.harvard.edu), office hours, or one-on-one advising appointments.

Term-time Drop-in hours are Monday-Friday from 2:00-4:00pm
