McCall MacBain Scholarships

The McCall MacBain Scholarships provide funding for master's and second-entry professional undergraduate studies at McGill University. Scholars receive comprehensive financial support as well as access to mentorship, leadership development programming, and a multidisciplinary community of peers.
Endorsement is required.
To be eligible for the McCall MacBain Scholarships, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be a current student on track to earn their first bachelor's degree by August 2027;
- Have earned their first bachelor's degree within the past five years (January 2021 or later); or
- Have earned their first bachelor's degree more than five years ago and have been 30 years of age or younger on January 1, 2026.
Applicants must also meet the admission requirements, including any degree and language requirements, for an eligible master's or professional program at McGill University.
Current Harvard College students and recent graduates seeking to apply for the McCall MacBain Scholarships must be nominated by Harvard University. Applicants must participate in Harvard's nomination process and submit application materials through the Harvard University Funding Portal by the campus deadline.
Applicants who receive Harvard's nomination will be forwarded for consideration.
The McCall MacBain Scholarship is a comprehensive graduate scholarship for master's and professional studies at McGill University. In addition to financial support, the program provides leadership development, mentorship, and opportunities for interdisciplinary learning.
The scholarship includes:
- Full tuition and fees for the normal duration of an eligible master's or professional program at McGill University
- A living stipend of CAD $2,300 per month during academic terms
- A one-time relocation grant for moving to Montréal
- Access to French language courses offered through McGill University
- Eligibility to apply for up to CAD $5,000 in funding for meaningful summer initiatives
McCall MacBain Scholars also participate in a leadership development program that includes mentorship, coaching, seminars, retreats, and experiential learning opportunities. Scholars join an interdisciplinary cohort and become part of a global community committed to leadership, service, and lifelong learning.
Harvard's nomination committee seeks to identify candidates who are highly competitive for the McCall MacBain Scholarships and who demonstrate strong alignment with the scholarship's core values.
In evaluating applications for nomination, the committee will consider:
- academic achievement and intellectual engagement
- demonstrated leadership and the potential to inspire, motivate, and support others
- meaningful community involvement and a commitment to service
- initiative, creativity, and the ability to address challenges constructively
- strength of character, including integrity, resilience, and self-awareness
- the clarity of the applicant's educational, professional, and personal goals
- the applicant's potential to contribute to and benefit from the McCall MacBain Scholars community at McGill University
The nomination process is competitive. Harvard's nominees will be selected based on the overall strength of their application materials and their potential to be successful in the national and international stages of the McCall MacBain Scholarship selection process.
Applicants must apply for Harvard's endorsement via the Harvard University Funding Portal (see link below).

To be considered for Harvard's institutional endorsement, applicants must:
- Submit the McCall MacBain Scholarship application through the official McCall MacBain application system.
- Download or save a PDF copy of the completed McCall MacBain application.
- Upload the following materials through the Harvard University Funding Portal by the campus deadline:
- PDF copy of the completed McCall MacBain application
- Most recent resume or CV
- Current transcript (unofficial is fine)
- Following review, Harvard will determine which candidates will receive institutional endorsement in accordance with McCall MacBain Scholarship guidelines.
