Tom Hamel

Associate Director, Research and Fellowships

Tom Hamel is the Associate Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships. He oversees day-to-day supervision of student programming, leads administrative management of the fellowships program, and advises undergraduates. Before joining the URAF team, Tom served as Senior International Admissions Officer at Harvard College, responsible for recruitment and evaluation activities for undergraduate applicants representing more than 80 countries. A native of Methuen, MA, he holds an AB degree from Harvard College and an EdM degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. 

Tom welcomes conversations with students about summer opportunities, postgraduate opportunities, and finding funding for future plans, among other topics. Programs for which Tom advises include Fulbright US Student Program, Truman Scholarship, Yenching Scholarship, Michael C. Rockefeller Fellowship, Beinecke Scholarship, Projects for Peace, Postgraduate Public Service Fellowships, Booth Fellowship, Patterson Fellowship, Rhodes Scholarship, Marshall Scholarship, Mitchell Scholarship, Critical Language Scholarships.

Advising

Monday-Thursday, 2:00-4:00 PM. Drop-in advising will resume in the Fall semester.
